Went back to emerald pools today, this time with Colby Albino and Sean Jordan of the Lib-tech NAS team. The water was way warmer and the place was packed. I’ve never seen so many people hucking off the biggest cliffs out there. It was a super fun day involving so ridiculous cliff jumping.

I got the worst news ever this morning. My ski coach, friend, and mentor Clay Beck was found dead in his airplane this afternoon after disappearing two days ago. Clay was out for a short joyride that he never returned from. He was an incredible coach, with the patience to coach a first time skier, and the skill to coach the best skiers in the world. You cannot replace a coach like Clay, and we will all miss him. For all of you who knew Clay, remember him for the fun guy he was. Clay had more passion and more fun than anyone I know.

I’ve been out to Emerald Pools 3 times so far this summer. I love it out there, tons of fun cliffs to jump off of, anywhere from 5 to 65 feet. The first time was pretty mellow while I was just getting comfortable in the air without skis on my feet, but the last 2 trips were both cut short when I got too rowdy and bellyflopped from 50 and 60 feet up. Ended up with a bloody nose, sore body, and hurt pride.
